Sundown is a night run event, it is one of the biggest event in Johor. This is my first HM at night run and great learning experience. We travel from KL after friday prayer, then we reach Nusanjaya just in time to collect our sundown racekit. We meet the usual Athlete's Circle gang then checkin to our hotel called Hotel Ariana Iskandar. The next day, we surveyed the HM route. It seem straight road, boring and totally mental. Which we are right, but we did not expect the heat of the night could effect our running form. Started when we flagged off with pacer way up front leading the pack. As usual, started the race fast pace because of the crowd then we encounter couple of hills, It was dark in some of the road but the organizers did supply few generator and spotlights. Although, I might say even if the police was looking after the traffic some drivers still honk and express their dissatisfaction when they stuck during our race. The organizers did put up banners earlier to warn the road closure during that night anyway...Owh well, some people won't understand anyway.
Back on the race, the half marathon route was 'boring' for me because it felt like putrajaya except its more humid and empty road. One of the worst part is during the end, where we almost reach the finishing line. We noticed that half marathon and 10km runner are connected at the same route to the end. Its hard for us to navigate through people who is walking and even taking selfie near the finishing line. Organizers should consider different finisher lane for each discipline.
